Vegeta changes without becoming gentle: his long arc turns inherited pride from a claim of rank into a standard he must live up to.
Prince of a lost people
Vegeta arrives on Earth as a ruthless conqueror serving within Frieza’s empire. His title survives even though Planet Vegeta does not. That contradiction explains both his entitlement and his rage: status is one of the few pieces of Saiyan identity his oppressor did not erase.
Rivalry with Goku
Defeat by Earth’s combined defenders wounds Vegeta more than a simple loss. Goku, a lower-class Saiyan raised elsewhere, repeatedly exceeds the hierarchy Vegeta treats as natural. Their rivalry pushes his training while slowly teaching him to recognize achievement beyond birthright.
Bulma, Trunks and chosen responsibility
Life with Bulma and fatherhood do not instantly reform him. The arrival of Future Trunks forces Vegeta to confront a bond he would rather leave unspoken. By the Buu conflict, sacrifice gives his attachment an action rather than a declaration.
Fighting identity
