How anime studios work
Anime is credited to a studio for convenience, but each production is a network of companies, departments and individual artists.
Who organizes a production
A production committee may fund and coordinate a title across publishing, broadcasting, music and merchandise interests. The animation studio manages much of the screen production under the project’s terms.
The creative chain
Direction, series composition and design establish a shared plan. Storyboards and episode direction translate it into sequences; animation, art, color, photography, 3D, editing and sound complete them.
Why credits matter
Freelancers and subcontractors can make decisive contributions. Looking at episode credits gives a more accurate picture than assuming every cut was created by permanent studio employees.
Time is a creative resource
